Sports photography with a difference (and a bit of luck!)
Sometimes when you have a complex plan in your head it can all fall to pieces around you — especially when you’re relying on the English weather to lend its support!
Well, luckily for me — this wasn’t one of those occasions.
I’ve been planning this for about six weeks — speaking to Southport FC club secretary, James Tedford, plotting charts of where the sun will set on the horizon, getting permission from the local college to take off from their car park, and getting insurance in place — and when the day came along it’s been forecast for 20mph wind and a thunderstorm. Great!
But as you can see from the photos — a lucky break in the clouds, just as the sun was setting, allowed me to get a good few shots of the game with one of Southport’s famous famous sunsets and you can even see landmarks like the Millennium bridge in the distance.
All-in-all I got very lucky so I hope you like the shots which will soon be available to buy as canvas prints.
