Aerial drone photography

Upshot Photos offers a CAA licensed and approved drone roof inspection service to roofing contractors, including high-resolution photography and video, if required, to reduce the cost and time associated with roof maintenance and repair work. See the samples.

Why use a drone roof inspection service to find the cause of a roof leak?

Using a drone to inspect a roof can save you the time it would take to construct a scaffolding platform or even just the time it takes to safely climb a ladder and ascend to the roof to check for damage that may need repairing to stop a leak. See the samples.

We can fly close to, and supply high resolution roof images of:

  • Broken and dislodged roof tiles
  • Chimney pointing
  • Ridge tiles
  • Flashing
  • Gutters and drainage
  • Weather damage
  • Potential causes of roof leaks

FAQs about roof inspections with drones

In most cases, we just need to conduct a few simple pre-site survey details using Google maps, and the have the right weather conditions — IE not raining and not too windy. See the samples.

In many cases, problems that may cause a roof leak can be identified quite quickly if the property owner is available to point out areas of concern.

Sometimes the damage is obvious to spot immediately on the drone’s camera control monitor. Other times it may take the expert eye of your roofing contractor to examine the photos.

Either way, the photos will almost always be processed the same day and delivered to you electronically via Google Drive so you can download or share them.

Our drone cameras take exceptionally high quality photos (see the samples) using 20MP Hasselblad sensors and lenses and we’d always recommend viewing them on a some kind of computer monitor to be able to appreciate the detail in its entirety.

However, a good quality phone or tablet screen will also produce good results when viewing our roof survey drone photos.

Our roofing contractor clients all say the same thing when we ask for feedback:

This saves me going up there – it’s like standing on the roof and looking down to see what needs doing — except I don’t need to get the ladders out!
